CLEMSON, SOUTH CAROLINA- Clemson University, Department of Food, Nutrition and Packaging Sciences, welcomed BioLogiQ CEO Steve Sherman on Wednesday to guest lecture in its Packaging Science 8080 Biopolymer Plastics class.
His lecture, entitled, “Trends, Problems, and Solutions in Sustainability-Reducing Pollution Caused by the Accumulation of Plastic in the Environment”, provided the graduate students with industry perspective on the pros and cons of many technologies, and challenged the students to think about sustainability and environmental impact from new perspectives.
Clemson offers one of just a few packaging science undergraduate degree programs in the United States. Its program is unique as it blends biology, chemistry and physics alongside graphics and marketing principles.
“It was an excellent lecture yesterday. It was beyond my expectations! It is great to have an industry leader challenge our students in the classroom setting. Faculty do it all the time, and it is great for students to understand this is a career expectation.”, remarked the class’s Professor Anthony L. Pometto III, Ph.D., of the Department of Food, Nutrition, and Packaging Sciences.
